Types of Testimonials

  • Experience oriented — talks about the positive experience

  • Overcoming — speak to common objections and defuse them

  • Results oriented — accomplished the goal; focus on the benefit

Successful Testimonials

  • To the point

  • Don’t use vague words

  • Positive

  • Adding a HEADLINE over the testimonials gives impact for those who do not want to read the whole paragraph. This is typically done in the copywriting phase. 

Professional Endorsements

  • When requesting endorsements on a professional level, the person’s notoriety, company, or job title can be just as powerful as what they say. 

  • Be sure to get approval to use their full name and credentials, and if possible even their photo — we can oftentimes pull their photo from their linkedin or corporate website based on their approval.

How to ask for a testimonial


The call

It usually is best to reach out to the person via phone to see if they are willing. Once you get agreement, then you can follow up with an email. 

The best time to ask is right after the last meeting / call… the client feels good and is usually very motivated to share their story.

Here are a few different ways you can think about what you would like to share in your quote. When you think about the work we did together, please share:

  • Why did you come to me?

  • If you had any initial concerns about saying “yes” and how you feel about them now.

  • How I helped you.

  • Your short/long term results.

  • The name, initials or designation that you are comfortable with in how it will appear next to your testimonial.

This can be super short. Ideally, 15-30 words work best, but feel free to write something longer and we can edit it down for you with your permission to do so.

I would really appreciate it if you could send something by the end of the week?

I'm excited to share your story on my website and social media to encourage others that targeted nutrition can truly change health and wellbeing!

Long (case study like)

I learned to trust God with my journey out of pre-diabetes

In 2016 I was told by my doctor that I was pre-diabetic, A1C level 5.9. I started with you and you counselled me on my food intake. I prayerfully followed your instructions and as a result I discovered after getting my blood work back in August 2017 that I am out of the pre-diabetic range. My level is 5.6 (normal).
