Step
1
Take a deep breath.
😉 We'll be the
first to say that Google
Accounts can get
confusing, but we'll talk
you through this! In order
to share access to a given
Google service, you'll
need to be logged into the
Google account associated
with that service. If you
have more than one Google
account (e.g. a Google
Workspaces account and
private Gmail account) and
you're not sure which is
linked with the service,
you may need to try
switching between accounts
to
check.
Log into your
Google
Account:
Hide your phone in a drawer for a minute. It's way easier to do this on your computer.
In your browser, go to https://accounts.google.com.
If you're logged in already, you'll be taken to the welcome screen.
If not, you'll be on the login screen, where you can log into the account associated with your Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or Google My Business Account using your gmail address and password.
How to tell
which Google Account
you're logged in
under:
Look in the upper right corner of the welcome screen after you log in. Click on the circle icon for your profile and it will pop open and tell you which address is logged in.
If you need to log into a different Google account, click "Add another account" and enter your email and password.
If you need to switch between Google accounts, click the circle icon for your profile at the upper right, and it will pop open. Choose the account you want to switch to by clicking it.
Step
2:
Share
Access
Share access to
Google
Analytics:
Once you have logged into and/or switched to the correct Google account, go to https://analytics.google.com.
Along the left-hand side, you'll see a menu, and "Admin" will be near the bottom with a gear icon. Click that to open your Admin Settings. (If the menu is minimized, you'll only see the gear — click that.)
If you have more than one Google Analytics account associated with this email address, use the pulldown right beneath "Account" to choose the one linked with the website we're working on. Then choose "User Account Management."
You'll now be in the "Account Permissions" area. Click the plus button and then click "Add Users."
In the email address field, add support@stringmarketing.com and stephanie@stringmarketing.com. You can type a comma or hit return after the first one to add the second. Check ALL the boxes for user permissions and to notify the user by email, then hit "Add."
Do a dorky fist pump. (Don't worry -- we can't see you.) You did it!
Share Access to
Google Search
Console
Once you are logged into the correct Google account, go to https://search.google.com/search-console/welcome
At upper left, beneath "Google Search Console" make sure to select the website we're working on from the pulldown menu.
Scroll down to the bottom of the left-hand menu and choose "Settings," which has a gear icon.
Click "Users and Permissions."
Click the blue "Add User" button at upper right, then enter support@stringmarketing.com and click "Add." Do this one more time for stephanie@stringmarketing.com. Leave permissions on "full."
Boogie!
Share Access to
Google My
Business
Once you are logged into the correct Google account, go to https://business.google.com.
In the menu on the left, click Users.
At the top right, click "Add Users."
In the email address field, enter support@stringmarketing.com and stephanie@stringmarketing.com separated by a comma. Under "choose a role" select "owner," then click "Invite."
Fish your phone back out of the drawer and celebrate with some hedgehog memes. Be sure to mark on your intake form the applicable response for each Google Account we’ve requested access to.
